Feedback Beyond the Traditional Classroom

While SurveyDIG primarily connects with higher education ERPs like Ellucian Banner and Colleague, our integration architecture works with other systems as well. When an independent boarding and day school in New England wanted to modernize their student feedback, we built an automated integration for Blackbaud.

Unlike colleges where feedback centers on classroom lectures, boarding schools support students around the clock. The school needed to collect feedback across three distinct areas of school life:

  1. Academic Instruction: Classroom teaching, course pace, and faculty academic support.
  2. Residential Dorm Life: Dorm atmosphere, dorm parent guidance, and student life outside the classroom.
  3. Athletics & Afternoon Programs: Coaching, sportsmanship, and skill development across team sports and activities.

Building the Blackbaud Integration

Independent schools typically rely on Blackbaud rather than collegiate ERPs. The school needed an automated system that could pull rosters and section data directly from Blackbaud without requiring staff to export and clean up spreadsheets every term.

SurveyDIG built a direct data pipeline for Blackbaud. The process automatically extracts course enrollments, dorm assignments, and athletic rosters. Boarding and day students receive the surveys that match their specific schedule for that term.

Three Coordinated Survey Cycles

With the Blackbaud integration in place, the school established three survey cycles:

  • Academic Evaluations: Department heads receive feedback on curriculum delivery while students are protected by automated anonymity.
  • Residential Life Reviews: Deans of students review feedback on dorm culture, safety, and residential mentoring.
  • Athletics & Activity Reviews: Athletic directors evaluate coaching and team programs across varsity, junior varsity, and recreational sports.

Whether an institution enrolls 30,000 college students or 300 independent boarding students, connecting evaluations directly to the student information system makes gathering feedback routine and dependable.
